Project Completed: Harbour Road
The Harbour road residential development looked to create a modern, stylish apartment block which blended in with the seafront and the environs. Valcan Ltd were able to provide cladding panels to help add to the buildings aesthetic. With tough coastal conditions to contend with our 3000 grade Vitrabond was perfectly positioned to provide the colours, aesthetics and durability the architects were trying to achieve. Valcan Ltd supplied the materials to FGF Ltd of Bristol to fabricate and the installation was completed by T&T Facades of Fareham.
About Harbour Road
Harbour road is a seafront retirement development comprising 26 one bedroom and 19 two bedroom apartments across 10 storeys. The building has been designed for modern retirement living with a shared lounge area, parking and other facilities for residents. Each apartment includes a balcony with sea views and the external facade uses a mixture of materials including brickwork, cladding and a reinforced waterproof concrete base due to the risks of tidal flooding in the area.
This project used 3000 grade Vitrabond for it’s exceptional durability on exposed seafront positions and for the long lasting colour Vitrabond could offer. The building uses VB9308 Bronze and VB7020 Sparkling White to give a splash of dappled colour to the facade. It works with the brickwork and concrete base to create a visual impact finish to the building.
Vitrabond comes as standard in FR and A2 core. FR core is a Fire rated core which achieves B-s1,d0 fire rating and as per the Approved Document B is suitable for cladding up to 18m. Our A2 core achieves A2-s1,d0 and as per the Approved Document B is suitable for cladding up to AND ABOVE 18m. Both products have BBA certification and are available in a huge range of colours and finishes.
Valcan Ltd prides itself on its ever growing range of certified products in a wide range of finishes and quick leadtimes. Our products deliver the quality and assurance when and where you need it whilst helping you to keep within project budgets.
Gosport is a town in Hampshire on the south coast of England. At the 2011 Census, its population was 82,622. On a peninsula on the western side of Portsmouth Harbour, opposite the city of Portsmouth, it is linked to it by the Gosport Ferry.
The Gosport peninsula has 17 miles (27 km) of waterfront on Portsmouth Harbour and The Solent and is a maritime playground for all. The pebble beach at Stokes Bay slopes steeply into the sea and offers fine views of the shipping going in and out of Portsmouth and Southampton and the many pleasure craft from the many marinas along The Solent and the Isle of Wight.
The town also has a strong military history – chiefly with the Royal Navy. The Royal Navy Submarine Museum has exhibits including Holland 1 – the Royal Navy’s first submarine and the Second World War submarine HMS Alliance.
