We are pleased to announce another successful BS8414.2 test pass, this time on our VitraDual panels with Rockwool insulation. This is an excellent result with zero spread of fire. The only combustible component of this test was the breather membrane.

VitraDual is a 3mm aluminium panel with a pvdf coating and has a Euroclass rating of A1 including the coating.

What is Class A1?

Products are described as having no contribution to fire at any stage. BS EN 13501 sets several thresholds for combustion performance when tested to both EN ISO 1716 and EN ISO 1182. One of these thresholds is a maximum heat of combustion of 2MJ/kg. Typical products meeting this classification include most inorganic materials such as metal and stone.

BS8414 Testing

The BS8414 test, is a large scale system test available in part 1 (concrete block wall) or a part 2 (Steel frame) configuration. The pass/fail criteria for this test is set out in BR135. The VitraDual/Rockwool test above, was a part 2 test back to a lightweight steel frame system.
