West Bromwich YMCA

West Bromwich YMCA was part of a major regeneration project to revitalise the area around the town’s iconic Victorian Farley clock tower. The YMCA has been operating in Bromwich for over 126 years and in this area since the 1960’s.

The project was to revitalise the YMCA and create new facilities including a café, coffee bar, business starter units, a fitness centre, youth centre and chapel as well as office accommodation and 96 studio apartments.

The designer for the project, BPN Architects, wanted to create a visually striking building that would be warm and welcoming without detracting from the environs. The focus was firmly on integrating the community aspects of the project with the surrounding area – so that the two could blend together for the community to enjoy.
