With todays stringent fire regulations, it is important to ensure that every project we all work on fully complies, regulation 7.2 states that materials on ‘relevant buildings’ should be of A2-s1, d0 or better and this applies to the whole build up. The A2-s1, d0 rating is taken from the BS EN 13501-1 fire classification standard and looks at the rating of a panel as a complete whole, no longer is the older BS476 standard giving class 0 rating applicable. The BS EN 13501-1 classification rates products from A through to F and in A ratings you have A1 and A2 – A1 is the highest rating and is termed as non-combustible.
