Ashwood House, located on Pembroke Broadway in Camberley town centre, forms part of a wider regeneration programme led by Berkeley Homes. The project involved the refurbishment and extension of the existing building to deliver residential apartments with ground‑floor commercial space, with particular focus on improving fire safety, compliance and long‑term facade performance.
Designed by Holder Mathias Architects, the scheme retains the original building fabric while introducing a contemporary roof‑level extension. Given the residential use and town‑centre location, the facade specification prioritised Classified A1 non‑combustible materials, durability and consistent installation quality, ensuring alignment with current building safety requirements.
Cladding to the roof‑level extension was completed using Ceramapanel Classified A1 fibre cement cladding, supplied by Vivalda. The panels were specified in Natural Textures Touch Light Slate and Natural Textures Raw Rain Cloud, providing controlled tonal contrast while maintaining a robust, regulation‑compliant external envelope.
The Ceramapanel system was installed by Stanmore using a rivet‑fixed method, with VitraFix colour‑matched rivets selected to deliver a clean, technically sound finish without compromising the non‑combustible performance of the facade.
The system offers proven resistance to weathering, impact and UV exposure, making it well suited to long‑term residential use and asset management requirements.
Cladding works were coordinated alongside areas of glazed facade to ensure a fully integrated building envelope at roof level. In total, over 600m² of Classified A1 cladding panels were installed, forming a key element of the building’s fire‑safety strategy and external upgrade.
The completed development demonstrates how Classified A1 fibre cement cladding can be successfully utilised in refurbishment and extension projects to deliver safe, compliant and durable facade solutions, while supporting the regeneration of existing residential buildings.
