Derby University Sports Hall

With a £10.8 million investment, The University of Derby Sports Centre is second to none. The sports centre opened in September 2015 and is fully equipped with facilities that include multiple facilities for ball games, fitness, cycling, climbing, sprinting, strength building and so much more.

Chosen by William Saunders Partnership due to the ease of availability and colour choice, once again Valcan Ltd’s Vitrabond fitted the bill and created this striking façade. To complete the smooth, sleek finish the installation used the cassette fix method which ensures smooth lines with no visible fixings.

The colour chosen for this project was VB9134 Smoke Silver Metallic.

Vitrabond is an aluminium composite panel which is formed in a variety of ways to fabricate building facades and facias. Vitrabond is mainly used as a rain screen cladding but it can be used purely for decorative finishes or to create unique and bespoke designs. The more familiar architects become with aluminium cladding the more they discover the options are endless.
